A Very Scattered Wednesday Post

-My calendar, both personally and professionally, is looking ridiculous for March.  I'm wondering how to clone Brian and I and see how we can get things done.  Doctors appointments (my first with the kidney specialist), birthday parties, school stuff, etc.  Aughhh!

-But on the good news front, Maureen is coming to visit this weekend!  We're going to eat delicious food at home, and do some serious knitting.  It sounds so, so good.

-Piles of snow everywhere.  It's all anyone can talk about, that and the condition of the roads.  It's getting depressing.  Spring is coming, right?

-We had a pipe freeze in the house again. With the re-zoning of the house, it only took out the bedrooms while the rest of the house was toasty.   Brian and I went out to a nice sushi dinner last Friday and afterwards we had a romantic time trolling the local 24-hour Walmart and scoring the last two space heaters in the place.  Brian's finally isolated the issue in the garage, and we're making amends so this doesn't happen anymore.  And hurrah...no broken pipes when it thawed!  I love plastic pipes.

-Speaking of house things....we're re-doing the master bathroom!  No more pale, newspaper-background paint and white beadboard.  It's going to be lovely when it's finished.  Right now it's not-so-lovely and on it's way to being trashed.  When it's done in hopefully a few weeks though, it's going to be pretty and so worth it.

-Knitting for some babies being born on Brian's side of the family this year!  Now that the Wallaby sweater for Will is done, I'm working on a scarf for my old assistant, Leona.  It's in bright pinks and purples because she loves brights best.  THEN bring on the baby knitting!!!

I guess that's all the news that's fit to print.

Totally Random Thursday

Since my mind's a bit disorganized, a random post it will be...

-I've got the first cold of the season.  I'm hoping it's the last but I'm not that naive.

-Tomorrow's parent-teacher conferences for my son's class.  While things are not perfect, I'm still in awe over how much better they are than they were at this time last year!

-And the knitting.....oh the knitting.  I am a machine!  Gifts are getting made and things are going well.  And just saying that I've probably smited the knitting gods.  Hats, socks, ornaments, a sweater, a couple of shawls, I've got it all going on.  I've already hit the ten mile mark for the year.

-That being said....there's a certain cockiness that goes with things going smoothly.  For one thing, you start to think that yes, I can get it all done!  And you start adding more projects to your queue, figuring you have "all of this extra time."  Not true, my friend.  I have four more items to cast on before Christmas Day gets here and I'm limiting myself to them.

-Please feel free to laugh at what I've just written.

-Want something else to laugh at?  I've agreed to go "cold sheep" until May.  Meaning, knitting only from my stash this winter and not buying any yarn til the tent sale.  Can I do this??  I should think so.  I've got a lot of projects lined up with yarn in house and I'm going to start my baby hats and blankets again after the holidays.

So that's pretty much it for today.  Maybe tomorrow will bring better organized thoughts.  HA HA HA!

Sock Yarn Diving

We meet again, Yarn Stash.

I've been working in simple charity projects a lot lately, and another Virginia Shawl for me.  It's a pretty "blush peach" shade but I screwed it up royally last night, and must rip back several rows.  Luckily, it's not against the law to drown yourself in other yarns while avoiding the rippage!

In the picture below is two pairs of socks, a cabled hat and a pair of babylegs.  (Legwarmers for babies, I've always wanted to make a pair!)  Lately I've got socks on the brain.  Well,  sock yarn anyway.  :)
